Youth Pastor Arrested, Accused of Child Sex Assault

A youth pastor was arrested and accused of child sexual assault, according to an arrest warrant from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Edgar Gonzalez, 24, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl. According to the warrant, he was her youth pastor at one time.

A deputy reportedly spoke with the victim last week. BCSO said she reported that Gonzalez texted her to meet up for sex after communicating with him for 2-3 weeks.

Gonzalez reportedly picked her up after they agreed where to meet, and they had sex in the back seat of his car.

The victim's mother said Gonzalez and her daughter communicated through Snapchat, and Gonzalez reportedly asked the victim to keep their communications secret "so he would not get in trouble."

According to the warrant, the victim told a nurse Gonzalez promised to "marry her and take care of her."
