Former Maine Youth Pastor Indicted on Sex Abuse Charge

A former Canaan youth pastor was indicted this week by a Kennebec County grand jury on an unlawful sexual contact charge involving a minor.

Lucas Savage, 37, of Clinton could spend up to 10 years in prison on the Class B felony charge if found guilty.

Savage, who was arrested in March in the town of Mercer, allegedly abused the victim, who according to the indictment list was under the age of 12, at his residence. Savage worked as a youth pastor at Youth Haven Ministries at the time of the alleged crime.

In addition to the indictment of Savage, an Augusta woman and a New York man were indicted by the grand jury on multiple drug charges

Clover Sue Baxter, 28, is facing five drug-trafficking charges and a charge of drug conspiracy, according to a list of indictments released Friday.

Baxter, along with Charles Evans, 24, of Rochester, New York, were arrested in April on a search warrant on suspicion of selling heroin.

Baxter is facing three charges of heroin trafficking along with two counts of crack cocaine trafficking. All five counts are Class B offenses.

In addition, Baxter was indicted on the Class C crime of drug conspiracy because she is accused of using her residence to facilitate drug transactions.

Evans also was indicted by the grand jury on a Class B heroin trafficking charge, along with a misdemeanor count of criminal forfeiture.

Baxter and Evans face up to 10 years in prison on the Class B charges, while Baxter could also spend an additional five years behind bars on the Class C conspiracy to commit count.
