Priest Charged with Child Porn out on Bail

An official at the St. Martin Parish jail confirmed Thursday morning that the Rev. Felix David Broussard, arrested and booked Wednesday on 500 counts of possessing child pornography, was released later the same day on $25,000 bond.
Broussard, pastor of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for the past two years, was arrested by Louisiana State Police.
Broussard, the 50-year old priest was ordained for the Diocese of Lafayette on June 12, 1993, according to a biography on the St. Bernard church website. His pastoral assignments in Acadiana included Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Magdalen in Abbeville; Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy in Opelousas; St. Joseph/St. Michael in Iota/Egan, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary/St. Francis Cabrini in Kaplan, and St. Joseph/St. Jules in Evangeline/Petit Mamou.
Broussard was born in Crowley and raised west of Morse in Acadia Parish. The fifth of eight children of Lawrence and June Simar Broussard, who are both deceased, he graduated from Notre Dame High School in Crowley then attended St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington and Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
