Police have laid more charges against a former Winnipeg priest previously convicted of sexual abuse.

Ronald Leger, who is 78, faces eight counts of sexual assault.

Leger is accused of abusing four boys who were between 10 and 12 years old when the alleged crimes began in 1981.

Police say the abuse spanned more than 10 years.

Leger previously pleaded guilty to sexually abusing three boys between 1980 and 2004, and was sentenced to two years in prison.

He was recently granted day parole but police say he is now in custody.
