The government should constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the rape of a 16-year old girl who gave birth to a baby in a private hospital in Kottiyoor last month demanded BJP State General Secretary Sobha Surendran.

"There is a big conspiracy behind the issue and it will come out only if there is an investigation directly monitored by the High Court of Kerala.There is a serious lapse on the side of the school. Hospital authorities even from the Child Welfare Committee of Waynad tried to conceal the issue. It is notable that all the incidents have taken place in the institutions that are under the control of the church. Robin, the arrested priest, was the director in many of these institutions," she said.

"The incident came to light following an anonymous call to a Child Line activist and intervention by the

police. If this call was not made, the priest would have escaped," she added.

He was arrested on his way to Nedumbassery Airport on February 28 and remanded in judicial custody.

Sobha Surendran said there is an effort by political parties and the government to sabotage the investigation.

"Several questions are being raised, especially as the victim initially named her own father. There could be a bigger conspiracy behind the case. The parents too tried to protect the priest and hide the truth," she said.

In the case of the kidnapping and molestation of an actress, Shobha demanded that the case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to find the conspiracy angle. Her statement comes in the wake of reports that DGP Loknath Behra allegedly had given direction to officers not to adopt third-degree methods while questioning the main accused Pulsar Sunil.
