Catholic Church members want corrupt priest kicked out

Members of a Catholic church in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County staged a demonstration today morning (26^th March) demanding the removal of their priest who they claim has been mismanaging church funds and a secondary school sponsored by the church.

It took the intervention of the police to disperse the irate members of St. Anne Mghange Catholic Church who had paralyzed the normal Sunday church service.

According to the members, the new priest has been misusing church funds for personal gain, including employing ‘his own’ people to manage the school sponsored by the same church.

“We don’t want our priest because since he came, the school which used to perform among the top ten in Wundanyi Sub-county, has dropped drastically because of employing his unqualified relatives to run the school,” lamented one of the demonstrating believers.

They now vow to continue with the demonstrations until such a time when the priest will be removed from the parish.
