A man, 66, has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a girl under 10 he met at a south-western Sydney church. Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad started an investigation following reports the young girl had been assaulted in the church facilities.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested the alleged perpetrator at a home at Ashcroft last Wednesday, April 12. He was taken to Cabramatta police station and charged with having sexual intercourse with a child under 10.

Police allege he sexually assaulted the girl at a gathering after church on Sunday, April 9. He was refused bail to appear in Liverpool court last Thursday.

The Child Abuse Squad comprises detectives specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious neglect.

Break-in at Edmondson Park 

Police are appealing for information after a break-and-enter at Edmondson Park on Monday. Shortly before 9.45pm a man and a woman were at home on Dalmatia Avenue when three unknown men entered. Police have been told the men assaulted the occupants before fleeing the area in two separate vehicles.

A woman, 44, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries. A man, 42, was treated by paramedics for a laceration to his head. They were both taken to Liverpool hospital in a stable condition. Liverpool police attended and started investigations.

Ambulance damaged

A man has been charged after allegedly damaging an ambulance at Sadlier at the weekend.

Just after 12.30am on Sunday, April 16, the police were called to help NSW Ambulance paramedics on Pinnacle Street.

Police have been told that paramedics were treating a teenaged boy, 17, when a man, 29, became aggressive towards them, allegedly punching and smashing an ambulance window.

Green Valley police arrested him and took him to Cabramatta police station where he was charged with obstructing an ambulance officer with violence and damaging property.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Liverpool court on May 5.
