A PERVERT Irish priest who abused a young girl will have 72 hours to leave Chile once his supervised parole there ends in 2018.

The South American country’s Supreme Court endorsed the expulsion of sicko John O’Reilly, 71.

It follows a decision by authorities to strip him of his Chilean citizenship, which he obtained after living there for 25 years.

O’Reilly was placed under a supervision order in 2014 for repeatedly abusing the five-year-old at an exclusive school in the capital Santiago. He had been working as the school’s spiritual adviser.

He refused to testify at his own trial and told reporters outside: “Whatever God wants. We all have to be respectful of that.”

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court quashed a lower court decision against his deportation last September.

In a statement, it said: “The Third Supreme Court overturns the ruling of the Santiago Court of Appeals and authorises the expulsion of Fr John O’Reilly, once he completes the four year supervised release term to which he has been sentenced.”

O’Reilly is now considered “an alien whose immigration status is outstanding”.

The court added that O’Reilly is now considered “an alien whose immigration status is outstanding”.

Reacting to the decision, Interior Ministry spokesman Mahmud Aleuy said: “We are happy with the decision of the Supreme Court, which ratifies the expulsion decided upon by the ministry.”

However, O’Reilly’s lawyer Cristian Muga said he was considering “an appeal at national or international level” to halt the deportation.

The Legion of Christ, the religious order to which O’Reilly belongs, said he had been informed of the ruling and is “remaining calm.”

O’Reilly has been banned from ministry for life by the Catholic Church.
