Mounties are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving students from a Metro Vancouver Catholic school.

“A report was made to the police over the weekend about an incident between a small number of our students.”

Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese Superintendent Dan Moric says details of that report aren’t clear.

However, CKNW has learned the allegations involve a sexual assault with an aspect of it captured and shared on social media.

Moric says it’s sensitive because there are no charges, and official complaints haven’t been made to the school.

He says students have been urged to take any information they have to police.

“We talked to them about social media, about their personal responsibilities, and encouraged them and asked them not to contribute to the problem,” he says.

“We also let them know that in the event they had any direct or first hand knowledge of something that happened that would be of interest to the RCMP and was potentially of the criminal nature, that they ought to contact the RCMP or contact the school administration.”

Moric says at this point, the school is leaving it up to parents to make decisions about whether their children will come to school, as they don’t have much information from the RCMP.
