A woman who served as a youth leader at an Anchorage church is facing one count of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Anchorage Police launched the investigation into 37-year-old Hannah Morris in February after the victim reported she had been “sexually contacted and penetrated on several occasions” by a woman who had been a youth leader at her church in South Anchorage. The allegations stemmed from the time the victim, now-32, was in high school back in 2002 and 2003.

The victim told police that she came forward because she’s concerned other high school girls could be going through the same experiences she did, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Morris was indicted by a grand jury on Friday. Morris has not been arrested but will be arraigned on Monday. Prosecutors suggested as part of her conditions for release, that Morris is to refrain from serving as a youth leader and to avoid contact with the alleged victim.

Anchorage PD asks anyone with information related to this case to give them a call.
