Call for Church to Acknowledge Priest Was Woman's Father

An unnamed Auckland woman had sought written acknowledgement from the Vatican that she was the daughter of a priest after her father was forced to keep it secret for decades. (File photo)

She had asked for acknowledgement from the church in writing, RNZ reported.

Dunn told the broadcaster if the evidence proved the woman's father was the priest he would be "more than happy" to acknowledge it.

However Dunn said: "There's expert DNA advice that he may not be the father, he may be the uncle," RNZ reported
