Updated March 28: Revised to include statement from the church.

McKinney police say an instructor at a Mormon church sexually assaulted multiple children over a period of years.

Noel Young Anderson, 22, was arrested Friday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. He remained in the Collin County jail Tuesday, with bail set at $100,000.

According to police, Anderson — a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on North Lake Forest Drive — admitted to sexually assaulting four children over the past seven years. The victims ranged in age from 2 to 6, police said.

Police say Anderson found the victims through church meetings. In 2014, he was an instructor for children ages 7 to 8, police said, and he had contact with children during other church activities.

Police say there may be additional victims and are asking parents of children who had contact with Anderson to talk to their children. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective U. Watson at 972-547-2729 or uwatson@mckinneytexas.org.

In a statement to KXAS-TV (NBC5), church officials said they were cooperating with authorities.

"Children are precious, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families," the statement said. "We stand ready to offer love, emotional support and professional counseling for them. We are grateful for their courage in reporting this to law enforcement, and we support the efforts of legal authorities to ensure justice is served in these cases."
