Ogden Elementary School fourth grade teacher Dylan T. Stolz was arrested and charged with sexual abuse after complaints surfaced at an upstate summer camp.

A fourth-grade teacher at Ogden Elementary School in the Hewlett-Woodmere School District who was working at an upstate summer camp for boys was arrested on July 4 and charged with five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, state police said.

The school district sent a letter to parents on July 5. In part the letter states: The district “has taken appropriate and responsible action to address this matter. The Hewlett-Woodmere School District immediately placed this individual on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of this matter.”

The school is located in Valley Stream.

Dylan T. Stolz, 51, of Little Neck, was employed as a camp counselor at Brant Lake Camp, roughly 80 miles north of Albany. The charges are the result of an investigation that began June 28 after officials received complaints at the camp, according to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in upstate Queensbury. The campers range in age from 7 to 15.

Stolz had been a camp counselor at the Bryant Lake camp for the past 33 summers, state police said. He was arraigned in the City of Glens Falls Court for the Town of Horicon and was remanded to the Warren County Jail for lack of $50,000 cash or $100,000 secure bond.

Officials are asking that anyone who might have information regarding the arrest of Stolz or other crimes he may have committed to contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Queensbury (518) 745-1035.
