The Niño Perdido y Sagrada Familia Catholic Church in Asan was the scene of alleged sexual abuse against an altar boy, according to a recently filed lawsuit.

While the Archdiocese of Agana intends to file bankruptcy to resolve more than 180 sexual abuse lawsuits, another civil suit was filed in the Superior Court of Guam against the archdiocese seeking $10 million in damages.

Attorney David Lujan filed a lawsuit on behalf of his client M.C.A., who used initials to protect his identity.

The suit alleges M.C.A. was sexually abused by two priests when he served as an altar boy at the Niño Perdido y Sagrada Familia Catholic Church in Asan in the 1970s.

The civil complaint names the deceased priests, Monsignor Jose Ada Leon Guerrero and Raymond Techaira, who both served as priests of the Asan parish.

M.C.A., who is now 54 years old, alleges he was sexually molested and abused by Leon Guerrero in the bathroom of the priest's residence on the second floor of the church. He alleges the priest sexually penetrated him and forced him to perform sexual acts.

The complaint stated, "Leon Guerrero would remind M.C.A. not to tell anybody since (he) was a chosen child."

In 1974, Leon Guerrero was transferred to another parish.

M.C.A. continued to serve as an altar boy when Techaira served as the parish priest at the Asan church.

He alleges Techaira repeatedly sexually molested and abused him several times a year for three years.

The priest was named in another sex abuse lawsuit, and allegedly told the victim in that case that he needed to sexually abuse him "to cleanse (him) of (his) sins," Post files state.

Lujan contends his client has suffered and continues to suffer great pain of mind and body, shock, emotional distress, embarrassment, loss of self-esteem, disgrace, humiliation and loss of enjoyment of life because of the "malicious and oppressive" actions of the priests and the archdiocese.
