Nun Accused in New Sex Abuse Lawsuit

A.B.C. alleges that around 1958 or 1959 when he was around 12 or 13 years old he was sexually molested and abused by a Catholic Nun. A.B.C., who now lives in Washington state, alleges that when he was a student at Santa Barbara Catholic School, D.E. a nun with the Sisters of Mercy and a teacher would sexually abuse him. He is seeking monetary damages of up to $5 million and a trial by jury. The case was filed in the District Court. A.B.C. is being represented by attorney David Lujan.

J.V. also is suing for $5 million and is demanding a trial by jury. According to court documents, J.V. was around 9 or 10-years-old between 1973 to 1975 when he was an altar server at the Barrigada parish and a cub scout. He alleges he was sexually abused on church grounds as well as during scout outings with Father Louis Brouillard.

Named in the lawsuit are the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Agana, Boy Scouts of America Aloha Counsel Chamorro District, Brouillard and other individuals for damages including:

1. Child sexual abuse

2. Negligence

3. Negligent supervision

4. Negligent hiring and retention

5. Breach of fiduciary duty/confidential relationship

The church is going through bankrupt proceedings in the District Court of Guam and working on sex abuse settlements.
