Nearly 50 years ago, a Father Dueñas Memorial School teacher-priest allegedly raped a student repeatedly, while another teacher-priest at the school allegedly molested the same student at least three times, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court on Thursday.

The plaintiff, a student at Father Duenas between 1972 and 1974, was identified in court documents only with the initials O.O.O. to protect his privacy.

His $5 million lawsuit named Father George Maddock and Father Louis Brouillard as his abusers. Both priests are now deceased.

In his lawsuit, O.O.O. said Maddock repeatedly raped him, beginning on the first day. The priest took him under his wing at the request of the student's parents.

That's because the then-ninth-grade student at the time was using marijuana constantly "and beyond control of his parents," the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit described in graphic detail how Maddock raped the boy for the first time in the priest's house in Ordot, after spanking him and admonishing him that "when the rod is spared, the child gets spoiled."

The rapes continued in the summer of 1973, when Maddock was teaching him to be an altar boy while serving as a temporary priest in the Northern Mariana Islands. The boy was also there, the lawsuit states.

The priest, according to the lawsuit, forced the boy to drink sacramental wine to get him drunk before raping him again.

The rapes happened two to three times a week in the Northern Marianas, the lawsuit states, It adds that, "in essence, Maddock viewed and treated O.O.O as his harem of one."

When they returned to Guam, the priest continued to rape and molest the boy, the lawsuit states.

Maddock's extreme sexual abuse affected and confused the boy, leading him to continued experimentation with various types of drugs as well as imprisonment, the complaint states.

"To this day, O.O.O. is confused whether he is 'fish or fowl'," the lawsuit adds.

When the boy was in 10th grade at Father Dueñas, Brouillard molested him at least three times in the shower.

The incidents affected the boy's relationship with priests, experiencing "extreme fear and anxieties when he sees or is spoken to by a priest," the lawsuit states.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney David Lujan in his lawsuit against the Capuchin Franciscans, Marist Brothers of the Schools, Maddock, Brouillard and up to 50 other unnamed defendants.

O.O.O. is the latest plaintiff in nearly 300 clergy sex abuse lawsuits on Guam since 2016. The Archdiocese of Agana filed for bankruptcy in 2019, hoping to settle the claims without closing parishes, schools and ministries.
