Baptist Pastor in Florida Arrested on Child Porn Charges

A Baptist pastor in Florida has been arrested on multiple counts of possessing child pornography and two counts of “promoting sexual performance of a child.” Given this man’s prominent position in his local faith community, we are concerned that there may be more victims and hope that the news of this arrest will encourage survivors and witnesses to come forward to local law enforcement.

William Dalton Milam is the pastor at the Olivet Baptist Church in Milton, FL. We hope that other members of his parish will ensure that this story is shared among parents and parishioners and will encourage anyone with information of any kind to make a report to police and prosecutors.

We know that child abusers tend to seek out positions of authority that give them access to potential victims, and we believe that Pastor Milam’s prominent position in the local Baptist community is cause for concern. While the minister has not, as far as we know, been accused of producing child pornography, church officials in Milton should still pull out the stops to ensure that no boys or girls in their parish were victimized.
