Priest in Sex Case Won't Get New Duties

Wisconsin State Journal [La Crosse]
March 22, 1996

A priest scheduled to be released today from the Oshkosh Correctional Facility will not be assigned to any responsibilities as a clergyman, Roman Catholic Bishop Raymond Burke says.

The Rev. Bruce Ball has been serving a five-year term on a charge of sexual exploitation of a boy, stemming from a 1991 case when he was pastor of St. Mary Help of Christians at Colby. He pleaded no contest to that charge. A charge of sexual assault of a child and two counts of child enticement were dismissed.

"The church generally and the Diocese of La Crosse specifically deplores any form of sexual abuse," Burke's diocese said.
