IRVING FREDERICK KLISTER

Rev. Irving Fredrick Klister, 81, a resi dent of Albuquerque and formerly of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, April 19, 1997, following a lengthy illness.

Born on September 7, 1915, and the youngest of four siblings born to Anton and Ella Chester Klister.

He is survived by his oldest sibling, Viola Schmidt of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; a very favorite niece, Beverly (Mrs. John) Jansen; and other nieces, neph ews, relatives and friends.

He was a graduate of Notre Dame's Class of 1939 and enthusiastic Irish football fan.

He completed his priesthood studies at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Seminary in the Spring of 1944 and was ordained a priest that same year in the Diocese of Superior, WI, in his home town at Rib Lake, WI. Column 1: vj expansion of -0.05 points at lines, 0.00 at parDepth P42.10I7.14

He came to the southwest due to health reasons in the early 1950s and was reincardinated in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe where he served the re mainder of his 53 year priesthood as Pastor at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Santa Fe and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springer, NM.

In retirement, he served as a relief priest in numerous parish church com munities thorughout the Archdiocese. He genuinely loved his priesthood.

Special thanks to: Drs. Charles Mc Canna and David Merck; his dearest friends, Frs. Jim Cronin and Juan Men dez, Deacon Ed Olona; C. C. Mulcahy; RN Nancy Mirza; CNA Joe Gallegos (who knew Father in receiving the first sacra ment of Penance); other religious and clergy who called daily to offer support and consolation; as well as, staff of St. Vincent Hospital; Ponce de Leon of Santa Fe; Horizon Nursing Care Center and Sandia Hospice in Albuquerque for their care during his illness.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church.

Mass of the Resurrection will be cele brated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church with Archbishop Robert Sheehan and Fr. Jim Cronin as celebrants.

Memorial contributions may be di rected to the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Propagation of the Faith Program care of Fr. Richard Olona, Chancellor or the Servants of Paraclete at Jemez Springs, NM or PBS Public Broadcasting Station.
