Church: Allegation against Priest Lacks Corroboration

By Tampa Pensacola

Church investigators have been unable to corroborate a prison inmate's accusation that he was molested by a Roman Catholic priest when he was a teen-ager.

But the investigation of the Rev. Richard Castillo will remain open in case others step forward with information, the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee said on Friday.

Richard Watts, 24, of Pensacola accused Castillo in April of performing oral sex on him when he got drunk and passed out during a party at the priest's Pensacola Beach home seven years ago.

Castillo, 43, denied the allegation and was put on leave from his parish in Quincy, a Florida Panhandle town near Tallahassee.
