  Priest Indicted

Union Leader (Manchester, NH)
December 17, 1997

FARMINGTON A Strafford County Grand Jury has indicted a Farmington priest accused of sexually molesting two teenage male parishioners at his rectory residence.

The indictment was issued Dec. 11 and charged The Rev. Roger A. Fortier, 51, with 11 felony counts of felonious sexual assault. Fortier was first arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy during the previous six months.

Fortier was arrested a second time on Nov. 11 after a former parishioner, now an adult who still lives in New Hampshire, notified Farmington Police investigators that he had been sexually assaulted as a teenager while visiting the priest in his residence.

If convicted of the alleged charges, Fortier faces a sentence of 31/2 to 7 years in prison on each count. He is currently free on $ 20,000 cash bail.
