  Regarding Fr. Robert Wyzgoski

Archdiocese of Detroit
June 30, 2002

Effective June 24th, Fr. Robert Wyzgoski (pronounced Why-goss-ski) 69, resigned as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Beverly Hills, Michigan and was granted senior priest (retired) status. In addition, he has been placed on an administrative leave of absence and restricted from any public ministry in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

These actions follow credible allegations of sexual misconduct with minors recently brought forward and dating back to the earlier years of his ministry. An allegation was received and considered by the archdiocese in late spring; additional information was recently supplied by civil authorities currently reviewing allegations of sexual misconduct by Catholic clergy reported in the past 15 years. Fr. Wyzgoski has cooperated fully in this process. Fr. Michael Heppen, CSC, has been appointed Temporary Administrator of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish.
