  Regarding Fr. Alfred Miller

Archdiocesan Communications
July 11, 2002

"Exercising an option available to him the past six years because of health concerns, Fr. Alfred Miller, 64, has requested and been granted senior priest (retired) status. Accordingly, effective July 7th, Fr. Miller has resigned as pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Temperance, Michigan.

Additionally, because of a credible allegation of sexual misconduct with minors recently presented to the Archdiocese of Detroit, Fr. Miller has been placed on an administrative leave of absence and temporarily restricted from any public ministry pending the resolution of these matters.

This information, which involves the earlier years of Fr. Miller's ministry, has been shared with civil authorities. Fr. Miller has cooperated fully in this process. Fr. David West has been named Temporary

Administrator of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish."
