  Priest Placed on Leave

Madison Catholic Herald Online
December 26, 2002

MADISON — Fr. Robert DeCock, a priest from the Schoenstatt Order who was working in the Diocese of Madison, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by church and civil authorities regarding an allegation against him, Bishop William H. Bullock said Dec. 30.

DeCock was parochial vicar at St. Paul University Catholic Center, Madison. An announcement was read at weekend Masses at St. Paul's that DeCock was placed on leave. The allegation was received by diocesan officials last week and information was turned over to the Dane County District attorney's office and the Schoenstatt Order.

The diocese plans no further comment until the investigation has been completed.

Bullock also revealed that the diocese has received an allegation of sexual abuse with a male minor against former diocesan priest Michael Trainor.

This alleged incident occurred in 1980 when Trainor served at St. Henry Parish in Watertown. Trainor resigned from the priesthood in 1991.
