  Man Used Church Computer for Child Porn, Police Say

An unemployed Scranton man was arrested Thursday on charges he downloaded child pornography onto a computer while staying at St.

Anns Catholic Church rectory in Coolbaugh Township, police said.

Virgil B. Tetherow, 40, admitted he downloaded the pictures while he was staying at the rectory during January 2004 and January 2005, Pocono Mountain Regional police said.

Police said the investigation began Jan. 17 when they were informed images of young men engaged in sexual acts were found on a computer at the rectory.

Tetherow was charged with sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communication facility. He was arraigned by District Judge Clancy Dennis of Tobyhanna and released on his own recognizance.
