Dallas Morning News
March 23, 2005

A Grand Prairie priest was indicted Tuesday on a charge that he had illegal child pornography on a computer in his office at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. According to police reports, investigators seized the Rev. Matthew Bagert's computer Jan. 31 after an associate priest inadvertently saw the images and called authorities. The computer contained "numerous images, sexual and lewd in nature" of boys 4 to 14 years old, according to police reports. If convicted of the third-degree felony charge, Father Bagert faces two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Father Bagert was suspended as the church's pastor pending the outcome of the investigation.
