Kenosha – Rev. James Schlaffer, 82, formerly of Racine, passed away at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, on Saturday, August 22, 1998.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. on December 27, 1915. Rev. Schlaffer was a retired priest, member of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He was ordained in September of 1945 serving from that date at many parishes and hospitals. He was the son of the late James and Anna (nee: Habetler) Schlaffer and was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie DiCello, Mary Costabile; brother, Joseph Schlaffer; brother-in-laws, Gerald Heidenreich, John Costabile, and Casimir Campagna.

He is survived by brothers, Anthony Schlaffer and wife, Jackie, and Stephen Schlaffer; sisters, Anne Heidenreich, Theresa Campagna, Rose Koleske and husband, Louis; brother-in-law, Michael DiCello; sister-in-law, Joan Schlaffer of California; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, on Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at 6 p.m. with the very Rev. Joseph F. Hornacek and Rev. Thomas F. Lijewski concelebrating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until time of Mass.
