Sunday Mirror
November 10, 2002

ANOTHER paedophile priest will be freed from prison tomorrow.

Pervert Father James Prunty will be released in the morning after being locked up for sex crimes earlier this year.

His release comes shortly after that of another paedophile cleric, Fr Ivan Payne.

And at the end of the month yet another child molesting priest - the notorious Brother Ambrose - will be freed.

Retired Prunty, 77, will walk out the gates of the the Curragh prison, nicknamed The Vatican because there are so many men of the cloth inside its walls.

The cleric was jailed in February after a court heard how he repeatedly molested young girls in a church confession box over 40 years ago.

He was sentenced to a year behind bars after being tried for 13 charges of sexual assault on three girls.

Fr Prunty pleaded guilty to 13 sample counts of indecent assault on the girls at a venue in the Midlands between 1956 and 1959. Originally there was a total of 76 charges.

Brother Ambrose James Kelly, 76, will be freed on November 23 after serving just one year for 36 years of abuse.
