Msgr. John Baruch, Pastor Emeritus of Schuylkill Church

The Rev. Monsignor John S. Baruch, 87, of Holy Family Villa, Bethlehem, pastor emeritus at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Minersville, died Sunday in Sacred Heart Hospital.

He was pastor of St. Stanislaus from 1964 until being named pastor emeritus in 1984. Previously, he was pastor of St. Casimir's, Mahanoy City, 1946-60, and assistant pastor of St. John Cantius Church, Bridesburg, Philadelphia County, 1930-46.

He studied for the priesthood at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich., and was ordained in 1930 in Detroit by the Most Rev. M.J. Gallagher.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of the late John and Michaline (Grysinska) Baruch. He was a diocesan consultor member of the Council of Priests, 1972-84, and dean of the South Schuylkill Deanery, 1977-78. He was named an Honorary Prelate of His Holiness with the title of Monsignor by Pope Paul VI in 1974.

There are no immediate survivors.
