Police investigate historic Eureka Pool sexual assaults

VICTORIA Police has launched a statewide plea for information regarding sexual assaults on young boys in Ballarat in the late 1970s.

Police issued the public plea at 7.50am today, asking for witnesses to incidents at the Eureka Pool to come forward.

The statement reads as follows:

Police are appealing for information in relation to allegations of sexual assault at the Eureka Stockade Pool, Ballarat East in the late 1970s. 

The male victims were aged 8 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. 

Police would like to speak to anyone who was a victim of a sexual assault, or anybody with any information relating to any alleged sexual assaults, committed at the Eureka Stockade Pool between 1977 and 1980. 

Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report. 

Victoria Police is committed to investigating and bringing to justice those people who prey on children no matter how many years have passed. 

Anyone with information relating to any alleged sexual assaults of children at the Eureka Stockade Pool during this time period is urged to contact police on 1800 110 007.
