LENTEN MESSAGE
My message for Lent 2010 is enclosed with this News bulletin. I request all the Parish Priests and the religious to read this message on 28th February (2nd Sunday of Lent) in all the Sunday Masses.

PRIESTLY SANCTIFICATION DAY
As it was announced earlier, Priestly Sanctification day will be held on 23rd March 2010. Usually we celebrate the sanctification day on the previous Thursday of Maundy Thursday. It falls on 25th March. Since it is solemnity of the Annunciation, Sanctification day is anticipated to 23rd March Tuesday.

All the clergy in our Diocese are expected to take part in it without fail. Rev. Fr. Irudhaya Samy OFM. cap, will guide us spiritually on that day. Parish Priests are kindly requested to exhort the faithful to pray in a special way for our Diocesan Clergy on that day for the renewal of their commitment. The time Table will be as follows:

RETURN OF FR. A. P. BENEDICT
Fr. A. P. Benedict of our Diocese has returned from USA to our Diocese. He was as a Fidei Donum of our Diocese at St. Mel’s Parish of Los Angeles Arch Diocese for the past 6 years. He was also in-charge of Diocese of Ootacamund for the Mission Appeals in United States. He was very helpful to our Diocese in many ways. We appreciate his service to our Diocese as a Fidei Donum for these past years. We welcome him joyously to the Diocese.

FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO BE NOTED

1. To do any developmental work (like construction or altering the structure of the building, shifting the residence to some other places, leasing the land or houses, buying new property, etc...), or demolish anything in the parish or in the institution prior permission of the Bishop is must even the above mentioned works are done from the parish resources and collection from the people.
2. Inclusion of consolidated payment teachers in the seniority list will be done, to those who have completed more than five years of teaching after getting the opinion from the HM and Correspondent
3. There is no automatic promotion in our Diocesan schools. Appointments will be given only on the basis of interview by the Education Commission.
4. Marriage return must be sent to registrar under “Indian Christian Marriages Registration Act. It can be done for every marriage or once in three months with registered post. According to Indian Christian Marriage registration Act we are recognized as Registrars of marriages. If we do not follow the procedure, we will lose this position. So all of should take it very seriously and I exhort you do it without fail.

LENTEN TV PROGRAMS

1. Pothigai: The Weekly Lenten TV program will be televised in Pothigai satellite channel every Friday at 3pm. Day and the timing have been chosen due to the specialty of the season and death of our Lord. The department has been kind enough to readjust their regular program for our sake for this time.  
2. Win TV: Holy Mass and homily is telecasted everyday at Win TV at 5. 30 am. Fr. A. Thomas, Parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Pondicherry is arranging this program.
3. Ragam TV: “Yaar Intha Yesu” Lenten special program is telecasted every day at 7.30am and 6.00pm at Raagam Local TV. This program is prepared by Neelavani Communication Centre. 
4. Udhagai TV: “Vanavil” Lenten program is telecasted in Udhgai Local TV every Wednesday at 9.00pm
5. NTV: “Vanavil” Lenten program is telecasted in Coonoor NTV every Saturday at 8.30pm

I request all the priests to inform your parishioners regarding these programs and benefitted spiritually.

Demises of

1. Bishop Emeritus Amalanather:

Most Rev. Dr. Amalanather, Bishop Emeritus of Tuticorin passed away on 13th February 2010. We offer our sincere condolences to the Most Rev. Dr. Yvon Ambrose, Bishop of Tuticorin, Clergy of the Diocese, religious and the faithful.

2. Rev. Fr. Paul Venish:

Rev. Fr. Paul Venish SJ, passed away on 13th February 2010 of Cardiac arrest. He hails from Finger Post parish. He was ordained by me on 8th November 2006 for the Society of Jesus of Delhi Province. Our heartfelt condolences to his family members, Provincial, his colleagues and to the dear and near ones.
May their souls rest in peace!

PRIESTLY CONTEST: 1ST PRIZE IS FREE TRIP TO ROME
NORTH HAVEN, Connecticut, FEB. 2, 2010 (Zenit.org) Catholic.net is sponsoring a contest, awarding a free trip to Rome or the Holy Land for the winner. Any priest can enter the contest with multiple submissions at no fee.
Contestants are asked to narrate the "most inspiring moment of their priestly ministry," and submit it through the Catholic.net Web site.
A press release from the group noted that this initiative aims to "promote the beauty of the Catholic priesthood," especially during this Year for Priests.
Thus, the winner will be given a trip to Rome for the closing of the year in June 2010. For those who already live in that city, an alternate Holy Land pilgrimage is offered. The contest organizers noted that this competition aims to help priests in this year to reflect upon the "extraordinary presence of God's Providence" in their lives and ministry. It is also "a gift from priests to the Church" since "the best testimonies will be compiled into a book at the end of the contest for the enrichment of Catholics everywhere."Contest entries must be received by March 19, at which time the best story will be chosen. Runner-ups will be selected for publication in a book, or online posting at the Catholic.net Web site.

Annual Statistical Questionnaires have been sent to you in the month of February. I requested all the parish priests to send the completed forms before the end of February. But few have yet sent them. I once again request you to send them before the first week of March so that I can work on them and send them to Rome by the end of March.

Application to the Minor Seminary: Please announce during the Sunday Masses that applications to join the Minor Seminary and the Preparatory Seminary are to be sent to the Bishop anytime in March and April. Those who have written their +2 examinations and above can apply for the Minor Seminary and those who have completed their 10th standard examinations can apply for the preparatory seminary.

Vocation Sunday, April 25, 2010: Please announce about the Vocation Sunday and exhort all the parishioners especially the Anbiums to work and pray for more vocations to Priesthood and Religious life.

• பிப்ரவரி 11 தமிழகத் திரு அவைக்காக அனுதின பரிந்துரை செபம் துவக்கவிழா, குணமளிக்கும் மாதா ஆலயம், கருமண்டபம் திருச்சியில் நடைபெற்றது. அதில் அனைத்து அன்பிய செயலர்களும் கலந்துக் கொண்டனர்.
• பிப்ரவரி 17 மறைமாவட்ட அன்பிய ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர்,; துணை ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் மற்றும் இயக்குனர் ஆகியோர் கலந்துகொண்ட கூட்டத்தில் அன்பியத்தின் வளர்ச்சிப் பற்றி கலந்துரையாடல் செய்யப்பட்டு சில தீர்மானங்கள் எடுக்கப்பட்டன. அவற்றின்படி கூடலூர் வட்டாரத்தில் வரும் மார்ச் மாதத்தில் ஆயரின் அனுமதி பெற்று கூடலூர் வட்டார அனைத்து பங்குகளிலிருந்தும் அன்பியப் பொறுப்பாளர்களை ஒன்றிணைத்து ஒருநாள் கருத்தரங்கு நடத்த திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• பிப்ரவரி 19, 20 அன்பிய தன்னார்வப் பணியாளர்கள் மேற்கு மண்டல அன்பியப் பொறுப்பாளர் திரு. அந்தோணிதாஸ் அவர்கள் தலைமையில் மறைமாவட்ட இயக்குனரோடு இணைந்து அன்னை வேளாங்கன்னி ஆலயம், பாய்ஸ்கம்பெனியில் அன்பியக் கருத்தரங்கமும் பொறுப்பாளர்களுக்குப் பயிற்சியும் அளிக்கப்பட்டது.

மலரும் மண உறவு பயிற்சிகள் பிப்ரவரி மாதம் 6,7 ஆகிய தேதிகளில் கோத்தகிரி புனித ஆரோக்கிய அன்னை ஆலயத்தில் நடைப்பெற்றது. இதில் 80 பேர் கலந்துக கொண்டு பயனடைந்தனர். இப்பயிற்சி அருட்திரு. ஜோசப்ராஜ் (சென்னை) அருட்திரு. பீட்டர் மற்றும் தம்பதியராக திரு. ஜோசப் சென்னியப்பன், திருமதி சாந்தி ஜோசப் திரு. பாபு திருமதி. சகாயமேரி திரு. ஜெயகுமார் திருமதி. கிரிஜா (திருச்சி) போன்றவர்களால் நடத்தப்பட்டது. இப்பயிற்சி சிறப்பாக நடைபெற அனைத்து உதவிகளையும்; செய்து கொடுத்த கோத்தகிரி புனித ஆரோக்கிய அன்னை ஆலயப் பங்குத் தந்தை அருட்திரு. சாலமோன் மற்றும் உதவி பங்குதந்தை அருட்திரு. ஞானதாஸ் ஆகியோருக்கு எங்களது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகள்.

1. On Feb 8th we had an interview for the post of M. A. B. Ed. Economics at St. Joseph’s Hr. Sec. School, Ooty. Twelve candidates from the diocese attended the interview.
2. On Feb 1st St. Mary’s High School, Kotagiri celebrated the school Annual day in a grand manner. The cultural activities were excellent. Bravo to Fr. Benedict.
3. On Feb 5th Feb St. Mary’s High School, Gudalur, Fatima Primary School, Gudalur and St. Joseph’s Nursery & Primary School, Marappalam together celebrated their School Annual Day in a grand way. The programs were superb. Congrats to Frs. Prakash, Arokisamy, William and Charles Babu and the HM Sisters.

அரசியல் பணியகம் -Fr.Jayapaul

• பிப். 5ம் நாளன்று குருசடியில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க பொறுப்பாளர்களின் முயற்சியால் இரத்ததான முகாம் (குருதிக் கொடை முகாம்) இந்திய செஞ்சிலுவை சங்கத்தாரோடு இணைந்து நடத்தப்பட்டது. தலைவர் பாக்கியநாதன், விஜி, சசி, பவுலின், கிறிஸ்டோபர் ஆகியோர் முகாமை வெகு சிறப்பாக நடத்தினர்.
• குருசடி கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க பொறுப்பாளர்களின் பெரும் முயற்சியால் காந்தல் கல்லறை தோட்டத்திற்கு காண்கிரீட் ரோடு சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர் நிதியிலிருந்து போடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• பிப் 6ம் நாளன்று கோவையில் நடைபெற்ற கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க மண்டல கூட்டத்தில் ஊட்டியிலிருந்து 13 பொறுப்பாளர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டு தங்கள் கிளைகளில், வட்டாரத்தில், மறைமாவட்டத்தில் நடைபெறும் அரசியல் செயல்பாடுகளை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர். கோவை ரூ ஊட்டி மறைமாவட்டங்கள் இணைந்து நடத்தும் மண்டல மாநாடு பற்றி இக்கூட்டத்தில் திட்டமிடப்பட்டது. மாநில ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் அருட்தந்தை பாக்கிய செல்வன் கூட்டத்தை வழி நடத்தினார்.
• பிப் 7ம் நாளன்று புனித மரியன்னை ஆலயம் ஊட்டியில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கம் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு பங்கு மக்களுக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்டு உறுப்பினர் சேர்க்கை நடைபெற்றது.
• பிப் 7ம் நாளன்று மதியம் 3 மணியளவில் ஊட்டி வட்டார கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கப் பொறுப்பாளர்கள் கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.
• பிப் 10ம் நாள் ஊட்டி, புனித மரியன்னை ஆலயத்தின் கிளைப்பங்கான குழந்தை யேசு ஆலயப் பங்கில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கத் தேர்தல் நடத்தப்பட்டு ஐந்து பேர் பொறுப்பாளர்களாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர்.
• பிப் 14ம் நாளன்று மதியம் 3 மணியளவில் குன்னூர் வட்டார கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கப் பொறுப்பாளர்கள் கூட்டத்தில் 28ம் தேதியன்று நடைபெறவிருக்கும் பேரணி, பொதுக்கூட்டம் பற்றி திட்டமிடப்பட்டு, வேலை பகிர்வு அளிக்கப்பட்டது.

குருத்துவம் பற்றி குச. சு. னு. நு. துநசழஅந, நல்லாயன் குருத்துவக் கல்லூரி

• இறைவன் என்றுமே நம்மோடு உறவு கொள்ள வாழ வைக்க விரும்புகிறார். அதற்கு அவர் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த சிறந்த வழி குருத்துவம்.
• “குரு இன்றி நற்கருணை இல்லை நற்கருணை இன்றி இயேசு இல்லை. எனவே குரு இன்றி இயேசு இல்லை” அன்னை தெரெசா இதுவே குருத்துவத்தின் மகிமை.
• குருக்கள் இயேசுவுக்கு விருப்பமானவர்கள் மாற் 3: 13 குருக்கள் இயேசுவுக்கு முக்கியமானவர்கள். எனவேதான் இரவெல்லாம் செபித்தபின் அப்போஸ்தலர்களை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். லூக்கா 6: 13
• குருக்கள் இயேசுவின் நிலையிலிருந்து செயல்படுபவர்கள் லூக்கா 10: 1 “தாம் போகவிருந்த எல்லா ஊர்களுக்கும் இடங்களுக்கும் தமக்கு முன்னே இருவர் இருவராக அனுப்பினார்”.
• எனவே குருக்கள் இயேசுவை பிரசன்னப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு வாழ்கிறார்கள்.
• இயேசுவின் பணியை இயேசுவின் நிலையிலிருந்து இயேசுவைப் போல செய்கிறார்கள்.
• குருக்கள் ஒரு கிறிஸ்துவனின்; பிறப்பு முதல் இறப்பு வரை இறப்புக்குப் பின்னும் அவனோடு பயணம் செய்கின்றார்கள். அருட்சாதனங்களை வழங்குகிறார்.
• இவ்வுலகில் ஆன்ம வாழ்வுக்கு குரு மட்டும்தான் இருக்கிறார். ஆன்மா முக்கியம், குருவும் முக்கியம்.
• இறைவன்தான் குருக்களை தேர்ந்துகொள்கிறார். (யோவா 15: 16)
• தந்தை இயேசுவை உலகிற்கு அனுப்பியதுபோல் இயேசு குருக்களை அனுப்புகிறார் (யோவா 17:18)
• எனவே குருக்களை அன்பு செய்ய வேண்டும். இயேசுவை அன்பு செய்கிறேன் என்று சொல்பவர்கள் குருக்களையும் கண்டிப்பாக அன்பு செய்ய வேண்டும்.
• குருக்களைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
• குருக்களை மதித்தல், கீழ்படிதல், ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுதல், அவர்களுக்கு ஒத்துழைப்பு தருதல் போன்ற பண்புகளை வளர்த்துக்கொள்ளல் வேண்டும்.
• குருக்களுக்கு நன்றி கூற வேண்டும்.
• இறையழைத்தலுக்காக செபிக்க வேண்டும். குடும்பங்கள் பிள்ளைகளைக் கொடையாக கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.
