  Facts about Who, Where Priests Were

The following is the list of Fall River Diocese priests supplied to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office by the diocese, along with, where available, the parishes and missions in which the individuals served:

— Rev. Gilbert J. Simoes, Administrator of St. John the Baptist in 1982. Prior to that he was the associate pastor of Santo Christo Parish, St. Michael's Parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in New Bedford.



— Rev. Paul G. Connolly, last worked at St. Mary's Church in Taunton until allegations arose in 1992 and he was put on administrative leave. He was accused of sexually abusing children while he was an assistant pastor at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church between 1956 and 1967.

— Rev. Arthur T. DeMello, ordained in 1962. Served as assistant in Our Lady of Lourdes, Taunton, and at Our Lady of Health, Fall River. He then was transferred to St. John of God, Somerset, in 1972.

— Rev. James E. Murphy, ordained in 1963. Served at St. Patrick Church until leaving for Lima, Peru, in 1966 to take part in a South American mission. Upon his return, he became a priest at St. Mary's Church in Taunton.

— Rev. Donald E. Messier, ordained in 1968. Was an assistant at St. Jean Baptist Church before being transferred in 1968 to Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Bedford. In 1973, he left the diocese to serve in the Diocese of Providence.

— Rev. Kevin F. Tripp, served at various locations during his tenure in the Fall River Diocese, including director of the South End Youth Center, assistant pastor at Holy Name Church and coordinator of the ministry at St. Luke's Hospital. In 1983 he left the diocese to assume the position of director of clinical pastoral education at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

— Rev. Raymond A. Robillard, ordained in 1966. He was an associate pastor at St. Theresa's before being transferred to St. Stephen's to become an administrator.

— Rev. Edward A. Rausch, ordained in 1954, was immediately assigned to St. John's Church in Attleboro. Rausch has since left the priesthood.

— Rev. Edward Paquette, worked at St. Mary's Church in Taunton before being transferred to St. Mary's Church in Mansfield in 1957.

— Rev. Steven R. Furtado, pastor of Holy Ghost Church was put on administrative leave by the bishop this past April for sexual misconduct allegations dating back 20 years.

— Rev. John P. Cronin, worked for 13 years at Our Lady of Fatima before moving on to St. Joseph's Church in Dighton in 1990.

— Rev. Robert S. Kaszynski, a former St. Stanislaus parish pastor, retired from his position this spring after four alleged victims of his sexual misconduct came forward. After 40 years as a priest in the area, Kaszynski now lives in Westport.

— Rev. Raymond McCarthy, no information obtained.

— Rev. Norman Boulet, no information other than a local phone number was obtainable.

— Rev. Stanley Barney, no information obtainable.

— Rev. Phillip Higgins, no information obtainable.

— Rev. David Landry, no information obtainable.

— Rev. Joseph MacGuire, no information obtainable.

— Rev. Albert Berube, deceased.

Rev. George Avellar, deceased.
