The whistleblower detective whose claims sparked a NSW commission of inquiry into institutionalised child abuse doesn’t expect it will stop pedophile priests and others from molesting the young.
Instead Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox believes the best outcome, along with legislative changes, is that child abuse is minimised.
‘There will always be some degree of wrong-doer or corruption in any organisation,’ he told AAP.
‘You can minimise it but you can never win it.’
Insp Fox was recently grilled for 13 days at the inquiry, set up after he went public with allegations churches in the Hunter Valley covered up for pedophile priests, silenced investigations and destroyed crucial evidence to avoid prosecution.
