Rome, February 18 – An Italian investigation into the Vatican bank, the Institute of Religious Works (IOR), was stopped by the Vatican even though Switzerland was willing to collaborate, charged whistle-blower Hervé Falciani in a book presentation Wednesday. He added that he hoped it would be useful to Pope Francis “who can give an example to the world”. Falciani has become a controversial figures over his involvement in the leak of documents concerning tax evaders with Swiss bank accounts, particularly HSBC account holders.
