A former Garland youth minister accused of persuading a 13-year-old girl in his youth group to have a sexual relationship with him has been sentenced to 22 years in federal prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Derek Hutter was sentenced Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty to enticing a minor.

The victim’s parents contacted police in October 2014 after they say Hutter, who was a pastor at South Garland Baptist Church, emailed their daughter and asked for sexually explicit photographs. Police say Hutter had several explicit photographs of the victim on his phone.
