Some of you have seen this movie on-line in its edited-for-TV Frontline version. The director’s cut that will be shown at Regis is even better. Don’t miss the conversation with Paul and Joe Cultrera after the film. Hand of God shows how Paul and Joe and their family in Salem MA respond to abuse by Fr. Joseph Birmingham, with unforgettable cameos by Bishops McCormack, Irwin, and Lennon.
The movie begins and ends with the conclave that gave us Pope Benedict. Two papacies later, here we go again. This is the perfect moment to talk with Paul and Joe about the making of their great movie, what we need from Pope Francis’s successor, and what we’re likely to get.
Regis College is a few minutes by car, west on Rte. 30 from the intersection of Rte. 128 and the Pike. As you can see, the Fine Arts Building with its distinctive glass front is in the lower right corner of the map, as soon as you turn off Wellesley Street. You can park off the service road in front of the building (easy access to the first floor), or in the large visitors’ lot behind the Fine Arts Building (easy access to the second and third floors).
Hand of God and the conversation with Paul and Joe Cultrera are brought to us by Regis College in connection with their excellent exhibit of Italian-American art in the Carney Gallery, on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building. The exhibit will be open before and after the movie and conversation.
