The arrest warrant for a Holliday pastor arrested Friday sheds more light on the details of the alleged relationship he had with a teenage girl.
Texas Rangers arrested Nathan Roach, 31, on May 30 for an alleged relationship he had with a child under 18. He is charged with child grooming. Roach bonded out of jail after his arrest on a $100,000 bond.
According to his arrest warrant, Roach was in a relationship with a now-17-year-old girl that began in 2022, when the girl was 15.
When the relationship began, Roach was the youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Holliday. He became the lead pastor in June 2024.
Court documents revealed that in December 2023, the girl’s parents found messages between her and Roach. The next month, the parents confronted him and asked him to stop communicating with their daughter privately. However, in an April 2025 interview, police said he admitted he did not stop.
When the teen girl spoke with investigators, she said Roach would touch her legs during church lessons and while eating. She also said he would give her hugs, put his hands under her shirt and would also kiss her cheek and neck.
The warrant also showed that in December 2024 and January 2025, the teen girl’s parents said they found more messages from Roach on their daughter’s phone.
In February 2025, Roach allegedly texted the parents and apologized before he then took time off from work. Church deacons later asked Roach to resign after they met with the girl’s parents.
On May 29, just one day before his arrest, a forensic analysis of Roach’s phone showed what investigators described as a large number of photos and videos of the teen girl. Investigators also said Roach searched the internet about laws against communication with a 17-year-old, as well as clergy sexual misconduct.
