An Alabama Christian school teacher has been arrested for alleged sex misconduct with a female student, according to a statement from the Tuscaloosa County sheriff’s office.

Sarah Huggins Logan, 35, was arrested on Friday and charged with one count of a school employee engaging in a sex act, according to the statement. More charges are likely to come, it added.

North River Christian Academy, located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, confirmed that “a former employee” had been arrested by local law enforcement, according to its statement posted Friday on Facebook.

The school called the incident “heart-rending for all involved.”

Logan worked as a second-grade teacher at the Christian school, according to an archived staff webpage. The school teaches students in grades pre-K through 12th.

Logan, who was arrested just days after police learned of her alleged crime, no longer works at the school, Capt. Jack Kennedy, who leads the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said. Kennedy did not clarify the age of the student, nor when the alleged misconduct occurred.

But according to the Daily Mail, Logan is married and has two children.

Parents of the involved student told police that they had discovered their juvenile daughter was involved in a “sexual relationship” with a teacher. They filed a police report on July 16.

Police then kicked off an investigation and conducted interviews, issued warrants, and collected evidence against Logan and brought her in on Friday.

Kennedy added there is a possibility there will be additional victims. and encourages anyone with information to contact Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

He also noted that North River Christian Academy has been cooperative throughout the investigation

The school confirmed this in a statement, and explained that it learned of the allegations early last week.

North River Christian Academy emphasized that its concern is for the “health and welfare of our students, staff, and families.”

“Contributing to rumors and suspicions profits no one and contributes only to the hardships experienced by those impacted,” the school stated. “It should be self-evident to say that this incident is heart-rending for all involved.”

The school requested prayers for the “families directly impacted.”

“This situation is easy for no one; there are only degrees of difficulty,” the school concluded. “We have received an outpouring of encouragement and support from many in the extended school family. We, the Charger Family, will weather this storm together.”

North River Christian Academy first opened in 1981 as a day care, according to its website. The program was established by Open Door Baptist Church, a local independent congregation.
