Henry C. Pilliod, a former teacher and coach of Berks Catholic High School, has been arrested and charged for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, officials announced.
A former teacher and coach at Berks Catholic High School has been arrested and charged for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, officials announced.
According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, on March 31, 2025, officials received two childline referrals from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, which alleged a coach with Berks Catholic High School was exchanging inappropriate photos with a student. Based on that information, a criminal investigation was initiated.
Officials said that an investigation found that in November of 2024, Henry C. Pilliod, 22, of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, and a student, a 17-year-old girl, began to have a inappropriate electronic communications with one another.
In January of 2025, officials said Pilliod and the student began exchanging nude images and digital videos with each other using the social media platform Snapchat. In addition, officials found that between December 2024 and February 2025, they also engaged in consensual sexual relations on multiple occasions.
Officials said that between August 2025 and March 2025, Pilliod was a volunteer tennis coach at Berks Catholic High School and then in February and March 2025, he was employed as a long-term substitute teacher at Berks Catholic High School.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, officials said Pilliod was charged with institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, and criminal use of communications facilities. He surrendered to Berks County detectives a day later.
Officials said Pilliod is currently awaiting preliminary arraignment.
