A 49-year-old Conroe man was arrested and charged with promotion of child pornography following a months-long investigation by Montgomery County law enforcement, Precinct 3 officials announced Friday.
Jon Paul Sheptock was taken into custody by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers after detectives searched his home. He is currently being held in the Coryell County Jail awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
The investigation began in August 2025 when detectives from Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Unit received information indicating Sheptock was in possession of and involved in producing child sexual assault material, including videos and images of a child under 18 engaged in sexual conduct.
Montgomery County Pct. 3 detectives conducted a comprehensive investigation and established substantial probable cause to charge Sheptock with promotion of child pornography, a third-degree felony.
When detectives arrived at Sheptock’s residence to execute the search warrant, he was not present. They later located him in Gatesville, Texas, and contacted the Texas Department of Public Safety for assistance in apprehending him. He was found at the Dr. Lane Murray Unit Prison in Gatesville, where he was providing ministry services to inmates.
The investigation revealed that Sheptock was employed as a worship minister at First Montgomery Baptist Church in Montgomery, Texas. Given his position of trust with his employer, Precinct 3 detectives are urging anyone with concerns or information regarding Sheptock to contact them at (281) 364-4211 and request to speak with a detective.
“Constable Gable and his team are dedicated to pursuing individuals who choose to harm our children,” the press release stated.
