The Archdiocese of New Orleans bankruptcy trial is slated to end Thursday, potentially bringing the yearslong matter to an end.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond entered the court, where he heard from one last survivor on the stand.
The survivor, James Adams, described his abuse as “spiritual murder.”
Adams recalled being abused at St. Ann Church in Metairie when he was 10 years old.
According to Adams, he told Aymond about his abuse 13 years ago.
“I had no one to help me,” Adams said.
Adams said he filed his lawsuit in April 2020, and three weeks later, the bankruptcy was announced.
Adams urged the settlement to be approved to help survivors like himself.
“I urge this court to approve this plan to put this part of suffering to an end,” Adams said.
After Adams’ testimony, the court moved to discuss Travelers Insurance, an insurance company that is not contributing to the settlement.
