The Mattoon Police Department arrested the pastor of a local church for child pornography.
The Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office filed the Class X felony against 51-year-old Douglas R. Overmyer. Charging documents indicate that Overmyer shared a video of an underage girl and an adult male engaging in a sex act. The documents also indicate that Overmyer committed the offense “on or about May 20, 2025.”
A source familiar with the family confirmed with WCIA that Overmyer is involved with Zion Hill Church in Mattoon and Seers See. According to the group’s website, Seers See is a “blog/site meant to teach about the seeing gift, help seers cope with their gift, and to offer guidance to those who parent them, those who are friends with them, and those who pastor them.”
WCIA reached out to Zion Hill Church for a statement, but did not immediately receive a response back. A Facebook search also showed that a Doug Overmyer is, or was formally, affiliated with the church.
The source also confirmed with WCIA that Overmyer was formerly the Executive Director of CHI RHO Outdoors, a group which “provides boys and young men with engaging outdoor experiences, including hunting, fishing, and camping, all while instilling valuable life lessons.” CHI RHO Outdoors confirmed with WCIA over the phone that Overmyer is no longer affiliated with the organization.
CHI RHO Outdoors declined to provide an additional statement on the matter.
Overmyer appeared in court on Monday for a detention hearing. He was denied pretrial release and will appear in court again on Dec. 15 for a preliminary hearing. The Class X felony carries 6-30 years in prison, according to the charging document filed by the Coles County Circuit Clerk.
WCIA reached out to the Mattoon Police Department for more information into their investigation, but did not immediately receive a response back.
