Br. Thomas Cuthbert Ford
Irish and U.S. citizen. Accused of beating and sexually abusing five boys at Mount Cashel orphanage in Newfoundland 1956-1959. Worked as Dean at Damien Memorial School in HI 1972-1975. Taught at Bergen Catholic in Newark archdiocese 1986-1996. Indicted in Canada in 1996. In 2000 he agreed to return to Canada. Charges reduced. He pleaded guilty to brutally beating one of the boys in a shower and was sentenced to five months in jail in 8/2000. Died 12/24/2008. Named in a civil suit 4/4/2014 as having sexually abused a boy at Damien Memorial in about 1970. Listed by the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers in 2014 as accused by at least two persons in claims settled in bankruptcy proceedings.
