Fr. Michael M. Lewandowski

Faculty member St. Francis High School in Hamburg and Cardinal O’Hara High School in Tonawanda variously during 1975-1991. There is an unexplained gap in Lewandowski’s assignment history 1991-1992. He was assigned to parishes in the Springfield MA diocese 1992-1997, and worked in the Altoona diocese beginning in 1997. In 5/2014, the Order told Altoona that Lewandowski was the subject of an allegation of sexual misconduct with a minor in the 1980s [likely in Buffalo]. He was removed by Altoona from St. Anne’s in Davidsville, pending an investigation. Civil authorities were notified. Per a 2019 lawsuit, Lewandowski sexually abused a St. Francis High School student starting in 1979. The plaintiff said Lewandowski, who was a wrestling coach, would fondle him while they wrestled and would ply him with alcohol. He said he told the principal of the abuse at the time, who did nothing.
