Professed vows as a Benedictine brother in 1970. Placed on “restriction” under a “safety plan” at St. John’s Abbey in 2002 after allegations by two youths of sexual abuse occurring in the late 1970s. No privileges. Reportedly in 7/2010, Phillips continued to come and go from the Abbey and associated freely with a woman whose family includes an autistic grandson. His name was included on a list of monks likely to have offended against minors as released by the Abbey 12/09/2013. Included on the St. Paul and Minneapolis archdiocese’s list 11/3/2017 of “priests and religious brothers who have served or spent time in the archdiocese and have substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor against them.”
