Fr. Robert J. Reif
In 1986, 2002 and 2005 the Diocese received reports of abuse by Reif. Accused of sexually abusing two boys, who were brothers, 1975-1986. Sent to treatment 1986-1987. He denied the allegations but wrote an apologetic letter to the boys’ parents in 1988. Left the priesthood in 1989. Suit filed in 1995; dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Appealed to KS Supreme Court which reversed the decision in 7/1996 and sent the case back down for trial. Settled in the mid-1990s. Reif was laicized in 2006. Included on the Diocese’s list 3/29/19 of those with substantiated allegations against them.
