Born in Italy. Arrived in Portland in 1945. Incardinated in 1946. Per documents released by the Maine Attorney General’s office, allegations were received in 2002 -03 that Romani had abused at least three young girls in the 1950s and 1960s. Assigned to St. Peter’s in Portland during his entire career. Retired in 1983. Died in 2001 at age 93. Supervised known abuser Rev. Lawrence Sabatino beginning in 1967; may have failed to report additional allegations against him.
