At least eight schools have sent out the letter after a 51-year-old man was charged.
A relief teacher who worked at a number of public, private and Catholic schools has been charged with child sexual offences prompting a letter to thousands of parents.
7NEWS understands the 51-year-old male teacher worked across both primary and secondary schools predominantly in Adelaide’s metropolitan area.

At least eight schools have sent the letter to parents, offering support to students.
7NEWS also understands the 51-year-old was arrested and charged in November.
Parents and guardians were sent the letter on Wednesday, informing them a relief teacher who had taught at the schools has been charged with “child sexual offences”
The teacher by law is prevented from engaging in any child-related work or volunteering and has been instructed to not attend any of the schools.
A Department for Education spokesperson said that the letters are standard procedure.
“The Department for Education has a policy around informing a school community at the appropriate time whenever allegations of sexual misconduct are made against any person who has been involved in any capacity at a school,” they said.
“The letter has been issued by a number of schools where the individual has been employed in keeping with the protocols laid out in the Debelle report.
“The temporary teacher has been directed away from all sites and is prevented from engaging in any child-related work or volunteering.”
7NEWS understands the teacher remains on bail and is due in court early next year for his first appearance.
