A former Wake County teacher and youth pastor has been charged with multiple child sex offenses, and his wife, an assistant principal in Wake County, is facing felony drug charges, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.
Holly Springs police, with help from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, served arrest warrants Tuesday for Mikah Douglas Brondyke and Chloe Grace Brondyke. He’s a former teacher at Rolesville High and she’s currently an assistant principal at the high school.
Mikah Brondyke faces numerous charges including four counts of soliciting a child by computer, four counts of indecent liberties with a child, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 10 counts of disseminating obscenity.
According to arrest warrants, Mikah Brondyke sent explicit images to an undercover Holly Springs police officer posing as a 14-year-old female.
He is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center on $620,000 secured bail.
Both he and his wife, Chloe Brondyke, are charged with felony possession of Schedule I drugs and felony maintaining a dwelling.
Schedule I drugs have no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Examples are heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote.
Charges not related to Rolesville High students
According to school system records, Mikah Brondyke was a career and technical education teacher at Rolesville HIgh from October 2022 to May 2024. He was also an assistant soccer coach, according to Rolesville High Principal Phelan Perry.
But the charges against Mikah Brondyke relate to offenses that allegedly occurred in February and March of this year — long after he stopped working for Wake.
“Mr. Brondyke’s employment with the school system ended on May 1, 2024 and the charged conduct is not related to incidents that occurred on our campus or with our students,” Perry wrote in a message sent to Rolesville High parents on Tuesday.
Perry told families that Chloe Brondyke has been suspended with pay while the district conducts an investigation.
“The charges are not related to incidents that occurred on our campus or with our students,” Perry told parents.
