A former janitor from the Pullman School District will spend at least 26 and a half years in prison for child molestation and having sexually explicit pictures of children.

A judge sentenced Eric Robins this week.

He pleaded guilty to seven counts, agreeing to aggravating factors that allowed a judge to go above the standard sentencing range.

The Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office says the aggravating factor was that the Robins committed an ongoing pattern of abuse for a prolonged period of time.

The judge put in place a lifetime protection order, saying Robins can never contact the victim, identified only as Jane Doe.

“While no sentence can undo the trauma the victim endured, today’s outcome provides accountability for the defendant and an opportunity for Jane Doe to move forward,” said Whitman County Prosecutor Tess Scholl. ‘We hope this resolution allows the victim and her loved ones to focus on healing, knowing her courage in coming forward ensured justice was served.”

Scholl said the plea agreement allows the victim to avoid the trauma of testifying in front of a jury.

Previous reporting from 4 News Now shows Robins was a janitor at two Pullman elementary schools.

Police said Robins did not meet the victim through his work at the schools.
